A woman named Araceli Martinez in Los Angeles was arrested for imposing as an immigration agent to solicit bribes from immigrants in exchange for legal resident status. Around 14 victims reported her fraudulent misrepresentation. Martinez tried to feel to Mexico but before the flight, Los Angeles police called the airport police to stop her departure.
Martinez took somewhere between $4,000 and $8,000 from each victim. She is being held on $335,000 bail on false pretenses.
